Question
Less Homework, Please!
L. Hernandez
Dear Principal Velázquez,
I am writing this letter to you because of the amount of homework we are receiving from our teachers. It is simply too much!
Students need to have free time after school to unwind and relax.
Today’s students have very busy lives. Many kids participate in after-school activities such as music lessons or sports. Others help their parents by cooking dinner, taking care of younger siblings, or doing yard work. This leaves very little free time.
Having free time to do the things they love to do is important because it helps children recharge. They might read for fun, listen to music, or simply relax at the park. This way, when they go back to school the next day, they will be refreshed and ready to learn. However, when students spend their time doing homework, they become even more tired.
I think you will agree that it is not healthy for children to receive so much homework every day. Please speak with the teachers at our school to see about reducing the amount of homework they assign. I am sure you will see a positive change in the students!
Sincerely,
Tawanna Jenkins
