As an enslaved person on a large cotton plantation in the 1850s, my working and living conditions are harsh and inhumane. I work long hours from dawn until dusk, often under the scorching sun, picking cotton with minimal breaks. My living conditions are cramped and uncomfortable; my fellow enslaved individuals and I sleep in a small, rough-hewn cabin with little more than straw for bedding. This lack of space and poor sanitation makes it difficult to maintain any sense of dignity or health. Overall, the combination of grueling labor and inadequate living conditions reflects the brutal reality of life as a slave on a plantation.
