However, once in power, Hitler's regime turned authoritarian, leading to widespread persecution of minorities, the instigation of World War II, and the horrific implementation of the Holocaust, which resulted in the deaths of millions. Ultimately, rather than fulfilling his promises of prosperity and national restoration, Hitler's actions plunged Germany and much of Europe into chaos and destruction.
