To determine the number of deer in a game preserve, a conservationist catches 523 deer tages them and let's them loose. Later 468 deer are caught, 234 of them are tagged. How many deer are in the preserve?

In the sample caught the second time 234/468 are tagged which is half of them.
So about half of the total population was tagged.
So the total population = 2 * 523
So about half of the total population was tagged.
