I need help with this equation.

y + 4y = 6 (1)

x = 9 - 4y (2)

I'm not sure what kind of help you want.

1. 5y = 6

y = 6/5

2. If first equation is connected to second, substitute 6/5 for y and solve for x.

I think you have a typo. I'm guessing the first equation should have an x term, instead of two y's.
