STEAM Advisement III
Capstone Plan Part 2: 3 Ideas

Now that you have spent time brainstorming about your skills, passions, goals, and interests, you will come up with 3 potential ideas for your capstone project. Make sure you have completed Advisement Conference #1 before moving on to this step.

After you have completed this worksheet, schedule a time to meet with your STEAM Advisement teacher to review this with them.

Part 1: Identify a Problem
For your Capstone Project, you will start by thinking of a problem you would like to solve. This should be something that is of importance or interest to you. If you are unsure where to start, think about what you said makes you happy or sad or is an area of passion for you. From there, come up with 3 different ideas for a problem you would like to solve, and add them to the chart on the next page.

Example: Isolation of teens during COVID.

Part 2: Describe a project that you could do that addresses each of the problems
Start by thinking about your skills and career goals and see how they can be used to support the problem. Do you want to build something with your hands? Create a community program? Try to align the project with your career goals or pathway.
Come up with 1 idea for each problem and add them to the chart on the next page.

Example: I would like to make an app that could be used to connect people who are in quarantine. This will help my community, and it relates to my goals of studying computer science and app development in college.

Part 3: Identify the artifact that will be the final result of your project
An artifact is the final product. This could be something physical that you are building, an event that you will be planning and executing, documentation of your research, or anything else that is tangible.

Example: I will develop an app, which will be the end result of my project.

Fill in the boxes on the next page with 3 possible ideas for your project based on the prompts above. If you are stuck, reach out to your STEAM Advisement teacher for help.
