Intro

A long time ago, before World War II started, Japan and the United States were becoming really tense with each other. The U.S. didn’t want to be involved in the war at first. They were trying to stay neutral, which means they didn’t want to pick sides. But over time, things changed a lot, and they had to jump into the war.

Body Paragraph

The tension between Japan and the U.S. was growing for a few reasons. First, Japan was trying to expand its territory. They wanted to take over more land in Asia to get more resources, like oil and rubber. The U.S. didn’t like this because they wanted to keep their influence in the region and also because they worried about Japan becoming too powerful. This made them really nervous, and they started to feel like Japan was a threat.

Another big reason for the tension was that the U.S. started to put economic sanctions on Japan. This means they were cutting off oil and other materials that Japan really needed. Japan relied on these resources for their military and economy. They were angry about this because they felt like the U.S. was trying to hurt them and stop their growth. Instead of making Japan back down, it made them feel like they had to act to protect themselves and their interests.

These two factors really built up the anger and anxiety between Japan and the U.S., setting the stage for conflict. Even though the U.S. wanted to stay out of the war, their actions were making Japan feel cornered, which eventually led to the attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S. getting dragged into World War II.
