say (0,0) and (1,1)
slope = (1-0)/(1-0) = 1
now the other way
slope = (0-1)/(0-1) = -1/-1 = 1
No change
the sign of both top and bottom change so the result does not change. note: -a/-b = a/b
slope = (1-0)/(1-0) = 1
