we use the ^ to indicate exponent
so you mean
x^2 - x - 6 and 2x^2 + 11x + 5
the first one is really easy and can be done by mere inspection...
what two numbers multiply to get -6 and add to get -1 ?? ---- -3 and +2
so
x^2 - x - 6 = (x-3)(x+2)
You must have learned a method other than trial & error or just plain guessing.
One method which seems to be taught at many schools these days is
"factoring by decomposition"
You can Google that and get all kinds of nice pages
