Sea anemones catch prey primarily by stinging it with tentacles. They have specialized cells called nematocysts on their tentacles that contain venom. When prey, such as small fish or plankton, comes into contact with the tentacles, the nematocysts fire, injecting venom that helps subdue the prey. Once the prey is immobilized, the sea anemone can then bring it to its mouth for consumption.
