The hydrated CaCl2 is just dehydrated.
CaCl2.2H2O + heat --> CaCl2(s) + 2H2O(g)

So, the result is just Ca and H2O?
Answered by DrBob222
No, the result is CaCl2 and H2O. The CaCl2 does not decompose.
