There is this one thing that you always see in movies when a person puts a cloth on top of a person's mouth and the person is unconsious. What is on the cloth?

In the movie, probably nothing. But the acting is supposed to show that if the person is already unconscious, it's probably smelling salts. If the person is not unconscious but the person holding the cloth wants to put him/her out, its probably chloroform
