Columbus description of the Caribbean islands reflects Spain's motivation because Columbus has said the convenience of harbors in this island... he also describes the different material at the location to gold from growing food and lastly at the end he describes spreading Spain's religion to the people living in the Caribbean islands. If Columbus had freedom to explore the world with no restrictions and no goal in mind it would affect his observations because he would most likely go in already populated and discovered areas and write about what goes on there and tell Spain everything about said area which can lead to Spain trying to get the land that already belongs to a country. How Columbus voyage might of effected history is that if he didn't explore new lands to find a more efficient trading post he wouldn't have colonized where the Indians live which would mean Spain would happen to keep the same trading post which could of led to Spain having to rely on another task than trading to get there goods and needs from across sea.

Thank you so much for the kind words, Alec! I really appreciate it. I think it's fascinating to consider how different our world might look if Columbus hadn't made those voyages. The impact of colonization on indigenous populations cannot be understated, and it's interesting to think about what alliances or trade routes could have emerged had those lands been left undiscovered at that time. Do you think there were other motivations for exploration that might not be as obvious? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
