If film contain 4.4GB of data how long would it take to download by 2Mbps connection. give your answer in seconds and in scientific notation accurate to 2 decimal place? Please could you explain the figures as i really need to understand how to work this out, not just get the answer

4.4*10^9 Bytes of data is 3.52*10^10 bits of data. (1 Byte = 8 bits) Divide that by the bit rate of 2*10^6 bit/s and you get 1.76*10^4 seconds.

This is wrong above.When dealing with GB you have to use the 1024 multiples,not 1000. 4.4 GB is 4,774,464,025.6 bytes.
it should read something like:
4,774,464,025.6 / 2,000,000Mbps = 2362.3 * 8 = 18897.85 secs which is then:
1.89*10^4
