In my essay I will be writing about roses and the interesting facts about them. In my essay I will teach the readers facts about roses as well as find some interesting facts myself. A rose is a member of the genus Rosa, which consists of some 100 species of perennial shrubs in the rose family.
Did you know that roses do not have thorns they actually have “pickles”. I found that roses have pickles to defend themselves because they have an attractive fragrance that will attract animals to them so they use their “pickles” to keep them away. For example normal predators use their noses to smell their prey or food so if a dog smells the rose it will want to eat it because it smells good the pickles will defend itself.
There is also something called a shrub rose that is in the rose family. A shrub rose is a rose that eventually grows into a large bush and or miniature roses, which are pygmy-sized plants bearing tiny blossoms. A shrub rose is like a superhero plant, it helps the rose stay alive by having leaves for sun, a sturdy stem, strong roots and protection, so the shrub rose has many features that helps it survive and bloom.
There are many garden roses that are well known but they best-known and most-popular class of rose is that the hybrid tea rose, which is a flower that is made by crossing different kinds of rose they are usually used in gardens and for making bouquets. There is also a polyantha rose that is a hardy rose that produces dense bunches of tiny blossoms, and then there is a floribunda rose that resulted from crossing hybrid teas with polyanthas.
