Question
Week 1: Psychological Foundations
What can psychology do for you? Let's find out! What would you like to know about yourself, your life, people you interact with, how your brain works, the relationship between your body & your feelings, how to find a good mate, eating disorders, how to avoid depression, or the effects of drugs (including alcohol) on your mind & body?
All students enrolled in this course are required to post a self-introduction in this discussion board. Your self-introduction must be 200-250 words. You must include the following information:
Type "Psychological Foundations?" in the question box (Packback will not award credit if the discussion is not named as a question)
Your name (your preferred name is fine)
Your major
Your experience with online learning
Now that you've been briefly introduced to some of the major areas within psychology, which are you most interested in learning more about? Why? (Link your question to a current psychological perspective from this unit that may serve in answering your question and expand on why you chose the perspective over others. For instance, have you ever wondered why you have the same mannerisms or reactions to situations that your mom or dad does, no matter how hard you tried to avoid it? You may consider reading more into the biological perspective to answer that burning question.)
After you have posted your message, read your classmates' posts to learn more about each other and to see the variety of things people think/wonder about.
Reply to two classmates' posts in 50 words each. Response posts should further your classmate's thoughts beyond "I agree" statements.

**Psychological Foundations?**
Hello everyone! My name is Jamie. I’m currently majoring in Psychology, with a keen interest in understanding human behavior and mental health. I have a bit of experience with online learning; I've taken a few courses before, and I appreciate the flexibility it offers, though I sometimes miss the in-person interactions.
One area I’m particularly interested in learning more about is the relationship between our emotions and physical health. I’ve always been curious about how stress can impact our bodies and overall well-being, and I believe exploring this through the biopsychosocial perspective would be valuable. This perspective emphasizes the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors in influencing health, which resonates with my belief that mental health is deeply interconnected with physical health. Learning more about this could help me understand my own experiences and those of others in coping with stress and emotional challenges.
I’m excited to hear everyone’s insights and learn more about the fascinating field of psychology with you all!
