The motel is located in California and is managed by Mia’s family. It’s not a fancy place; the walls are kind of old and the furniture is mismatched. There’s a big sign outside that lights up at night, but it doesn’t look very welcoming.

Inside, there’s a front desk where Mia works with her parents. The lobby smells a little like cleaning supplies, and there are some chairs for guests. Sometimes, you can hear the sounds of traffic from the busy street outside. The motel has a swimming pool, but it’s not very clean, and the water always looks a bit murky.

Mia also has to deal with some difficult guests who come to stay at the motel. Many of them are immigrants like her family, and some are really nice while others can be rude.
