Attachment Report: Dairy Cattle Production and Management in Ethiopia
Abstract
Ethiopia is one of Africa's largest dairy producers, with a significant portion of the population relying on dairy cattle for their livelihoods. This report examines the current state of dairy cattle production and management practices in Ethiopia, highlighting the potential for growth in the sector and the challenges faced by farmers. Key areas explored include genetics, feeding practices, health management, and environmental sustainability. The report emphasizes the importance of improved dairy production practices, the role of government policies, and the need for training and support for farmers. The findings indicate that with targeted interventions and support, there is a substantial opportunity to increase milk production, enhance food security, and improve the socio-economic status of dairy farmers in Ethiopia.
