1. Atmosphere

The atmosphere is the layer of gases that surrounds our planet. It's where we find the air we breathe! The atmosphere is made up of different gases, including oxygen, which is important for us to live. It also helps to keep our planet warm by trapping heat from the sun.

What happens in the atmosphere? In the atmosphere, many processes take place. For example, when the sun heats up the Earth's surface, the warm air rises. This rising warm air can create winds as it moves around. In addition, the water vapor in the atmosphere can form clouds, and when those clouds get heavy enough, they release rain! This is part of the water cycle, which is super important for all living things.

2. Hydrosphere

The hydrosphere includes all the water on Earth—this means oceans, rivers, lakes, and even the water in the air! About 71% of our planet is covered in water. It plays a crucial role in supporting life and is essential for drinking, growing food, and many other things.

What happens in the hydrosphere? In the hydrosphere, water constantly moves around in a cycle called the water cycle. It starts when water evaporates from lakes and oceans due to the sun's heat. When it rises into the atmosphere, it cools and forms clouds. Eventually, the water droplets in the clouds gather together and fall back to Earth as precipitation (like rain or snow). This cycle helps to keep our planets' lakes, rivers, and oceans full of water!
