Stop Using Animals in Circuses

A. Ghimire

Circuses around the world still use animals in their shows. This is a serious problem for the animals and should be stopped.

Unnatural tricks
The charm of circuses is the tricks that seem difficult. The animals are forced to do these tricks. For example, elephants stand on one leg and spin in circles. They do so while they stand on top of small stools. These tricks are even hard for people. Forcing animals to do such tricks is cruel.

Punishment
The animals are beaten and whipped in training. Even baby animals are beaten. So, they do as they are told. Big cats have teeth and claws removed. That way they cannot harm their trainers. Living this way, the animals are sad and afraid.

Starvation
Most animals are first beaten and then kept hungry. Hungry animals will do tricks for food. Therefore, they are given little food and treats after they do tricks. Keeping animals hungry for some tricks is mean and unkind.

Animals should be treated as friends of humans. Any business that treats animals cruelly must stop their terrible practices.
