Mrs Allen spends 3/5 of her money at the grocery store. Next she spends 3/5 of her remaining money at the petrol station. She then has $8.00 left.

I know the answer is $50
BUT I need to explain why its right
please explain on a yr 7 level would be helpful!

Then she spends (3/5) of her remaining money, which would leave her with (2/5)(2/5) = 4/25 of her money

so 4/25 of her money equals 8
1/25 of her money equals 8/4
then 25/25 of the money equals 25(8/4) = 50

Now you do 10*3=30 since we have 3/5 left, and add 30 and 20 together which makes 50.
