The Humble ADDRESS and PETITION of Thousands, who labor in the Cloth Manufactory. SHEWETH, That the Scribbling-Machines have thrown thousands of your petitioners out of employment, whereby they are brought into great distress, and are not able to procure a maintenance for their families, and deprived them of the opportunity of bringing up their children to labour. We therefore hope, that the feelings of humanity will lead those who have it in their power to prevent the use of those machines, to give every discouragement they can to what has a tendency so prejudicial to their fellow-creatures. 1. The petition above mostly refers to which of the following issues?
    B. Job losses due to new technology
The petition specifically addresses how the introduction of "Scribbling-Machines" has led to job losses for thousands of workers in the cloth manufacturing industry.

  2. Which technology did NOT contribute to the First Industrial Revolution?
    D. The electric telegraph
The electric telegraph was developed later, in the 19th century, and did not play a role in the First Industrial Revolution, which primarily occurred in the late 18th to early 19th centuries. The steam engine, textile manufacturing machines, and improved coal mining were all significant contributors to the industrial changes of that period.
