A New Start: My First Day of School
On an otherwise interesting August morning, I woke up early at 5:00 AM to prepare for my first day of school. I carefully laid out my outfit, consisting of black leggings, a black and white off-white shirt, and my white Air Force sneakers, along with matching white socks. I placed my pink perfume on the bed beside my clothes as I gathered my essentials for the day. After enjoying a bowl of pops cereal, I brushed my teeth and took a refreshing shower, followed by applying cocoa butter lotion and Dove deodorant. Dressed and ready, I styled my hair and put on my white Air Forces in anticipation of the day ahead.
Before heading out to the bus stop, I grabbed my clear bookbag filled with necessary supplies. Inside were two green and red spiral notebooks, a set of 100 mechanical pencils, pens, and gel pens. I also packed an orange wide tooth comb, a snack of Hot Cheetos, a Gatorade, and my school computer with its charger. Additionally, I had various highlighters in pink, blue, orange, and yellow, along with some Vaseline and my favorite mist vanilla perfume. With everything packed, I walked up the hill to my bus stop, ready for the journey to school.
The streets of Cedar Hill Ct. were bustling with other kids heading to school. Even though I have many friends in the neighborhood, I didn't see any of them during my walk, which was filled with a sense of anticipation. A few minutes later, the bus arrived, and we picked up more students as we drove past familiar places like Cookout and the town center. As we continued, we passed Riverdale Middle School and finally arrived at my school, turning in at the cafeteria’s back entrance, where the bus driver let us off.
Upon entering the Riverdale High School cafeteria, I was greeted by the sight of fellow students and the structure's appealing design. After passing through security, we were instructed to take out our computers and place them on the table beside us. The cafeteria featured crisp white walls, with one wall prominently displaying the word "Raiders" in gray and another in vibrant red. The tables were a mix of gray, red, and black, complementing the clean floor and fresh atmosphere filled with chatter and laughter. After a quick stop at the breakfast line for a chicken biscuit, I settled down at a table to enjoy my meal.
After finishing my breakfast, the bell rang, signaling the start of classes. I made my way through the crowded halls to the B-building where my homeroom was located. Navigating through the bustling crowd was a challenge, but I eventually found my class and was introduced to my homeroom teacher. Following that, I stepped outside to head to the T-building for my next class, feeling the heat of the day. The first day passed quickly; before I knew it, my fourth period arrived, which was gym class where we took it easy. And just like that, my first day of school came to an end, filled with new experiences and excitement.
