Usually when one is said to be studying at home, he or she is indoors and reading books, doing math, etc. This sentence implies that the speaker hopes the person who is "home studying" is learning about what is going on outside! The outside home studying could either be truly studying something (botany or zoology or something) or playing a game of tennis or other sport!

There are many, many ways the last three words can be interpreted!!
