Big Question: Why do we need decomposers?

write a complete CER. Your CER must be at least 4 sentences and include 2 pieces of evidence from your reading or LiveClass sessions.

Split claim, evidence, and reasoning into 3 different parts

Claim: We need decomposers because they are essential for breaking down dead plants and animals, which helps keep ecosystems healthy.

Evidence: First, during our LiveClass session, we learned that decomposers like fungi and bacteria break down organic matter, returning important nutrients to the soil. Second, in our reading, it stated that without decomposers, dead matter would pile up, and nutrients would not get recycled back into the environment.

Reasoning: This recycling process is important because it allows new plants to grow, which provides food for other living things. If decomposers didn’t do their job, ecosystems would become unbalanced, leading to fewer resources for everyone. So, in a way, we rely on decomposers to help support life on Earth!
