Poem 1: A Reflection on Time (Free Verse)
In the stillness of twilight,
where shadows weave a tapestry
of lingering moments,
I stand as the timekeeper,
fingers nervously tapping
against the grains of glass,
watching sands trickle down,
each speck a heartbeat,
each pause, a whisper of regrets.
Here, I breathe the air,
thick with the scent of memories—
laughter echoing from distant rooms,
a child's giggle caught in the web of longing,
and the sweet sigh of a lover's embrace,
all woven into the fabric
of who I am, who I was,
and who I might become.
I ponder the weight of seconds,
measuring love like currency,
wishing to invest in laughter,
to hold onto moments,
but they slip through my fingers,
like smoke curling up from embers,
a fragile reminder of impermanence.
Yet still, I find beauty in the slipping,
the grace of fading light,
the promise of dawn to come,
for though time may be fleeting,
it is in this very transience
that we learn to cherish, to love,
and to fully embrace the now.
Poem 2: The Shipwright (Sonnet)
Upon the salty shores, where dreams set sail,
A shipwright stands, with callused hands at work,
He carves the wood, each line a tender tale,
Of journeys bold, where silent spirits lurk.
His heart entwined with timbers, green and fine,
He sniffs the air, where briny breezes play;
The ocean calls—it sings the hope of mine,
For every vessel built, a chance to stray.
Yet doubt creeps in, a tempest in his mind,
What storms may greet the ships once they depart?
Will each craft weather trials, or be confined
To harbor’s grasp, their dreams a tale of art?
O shipwright true, upon this fate you draft—
To craft a life, embrace the winds of craft.
