do we have ...
3x/(x+1) = 5x/(x-1) - 2 ??
if so, multiply by (x-1)(x+1) to get
3x(x-1) = 5x(x+1) - 2(x+1)(x-1)
3x^2 - 3x = 5x^2 + 5x - 2x^2 + 2
-8x = 2
x = -1/4
3x/(x+1) = 5x/(x-1) - 2 ??
if so, multiply by (x-1)(x+1) to get
3x(x-1) = 5x(x+1) - 2(x+1)(x-1)
3x^2 - 3x = 5x^2 + 5x - 2x^2 + 2
-8x = 2
x = -1/4
