John Muir was an important figure in American history known for his love of nature and his efforts to protect the environment. He was born in Scotland in 1838 but later moved to the United States, where he explored the beautiful mountains and forests. Muir is best known for his work to create national parks, like Yosemite National Park in California. He co-founded the Sierra Club, an organization that helps keep our natural spaces safe. Muir wrote many books and articles about nature, sharing his passion with others and inspiring people to appreciate and take care of the wild places on our planet. Because of his hard work, many people today enjoy the great outdoors and understand the importance of protecting it.
