i am going to take tcap tis week and i need some tips to do my best. i need as answers as as possible because i need all the help i can get.

What is the "tcap"?

Advice to the exam-lorn, "test wiseness"

I. Answer easy items first. If have to think about any question after reading for more than a minute, move on.

A. Can get Qs you are sure of correct within the time limit (explain).

B. Can form associations on later items that might help with previous ones.

C. Can break negative sets/fixations.

II. With multiple choice, treat each alternative as a T-F question. If you don't know right answer, before guessing, eliminate wrong alternatives.

III. If first hunch is relatively sure, keep it. But if you are unsure or misread Q, don't hesitate to change first hunch.

IV. Carefully read items and directions.

V. Answer Q asked. May have a correct statement that does not answer Q .

VI. If no penalty for guessing, answer all Qs (probability level for correct answer, subliminal perception examples).

VII. Answer essay Qs as if writing answer for another student who needs to know the info, but doesn't know it. Be specific enough, so teacher will not have to assume what you mean, so later you won't have to say, "What I really meant to say was...."

VIII. Multiple choice alternatives with terms like "always" and "never" are usually wrong.
