Question

why are the flair lights at the air port yellow/orange instead of white? my teacher gave me until monday 18th to answer this and i think he expects a scientific answer but i have nothing

I have not seen this question before but I assume it's for the same reason that fog lights on automobiles are yellow and/or yellow-orange. Yellow light cuts through the fog (light isn't scattered as much as white light) better than white light. It wouldn't hurt for you to a little searching on the internet (Google etc). For example, here is a site that purports to show that yellow lights are not much better than white lights.
