When we take the temperature of something, we are measuring how hot or cold it is. Temperature tells us how much energy the tiny particles in an object have. If the particles are moving really fast, the temperature is high, and we say it's hot. If the particles are moving slowly, the temperature is low, and we say it’s cold.
We use tools like thermometers to get this measurement. The temperature is usually measured in degrees Celsius (°C) or degrees Fahrenheit (°F). So, when you check the temperature of your body, a cup of hot cocoa, or the outside air, you're just figuring out how much thermal energy is there!
