The dissolution of a tablet in water is primarily considered a physical change. When a tablet dissolves, its components disperse in the water, but the chemical composition of the substances does not change. The active ingredients remain intact at the molecular level, even though they are no longer in the solid form. However, if the tablet contains substances that undergo a chemical reaction upon dissolution (for example, effervescent tablets that release gas), then that aspect could involve a chemical change. In general, though, the act of dissolving itself is a physical change.
