Reflecting on the process of writing the first draft of an argumentative essay, I found that several writing techniques taught during the course were essential to shaping my ideas and structuring my arguments effectively.

One of the primary techniques I applied was the use of a clear thesis statement to guide my essay. I made sure to state my position explicitly in the introduction, which not only helped me stay focused on my argument but also provided a roadmap for my readers. In addition, I utilized the concept of counterarguments, acknowledging opposing views and providing rebuttals to strengthen my position. This approach added depth to my essay and demonstrated critical thinking, which is crucial for an argumentative piece.

Moreover, I implemented the technique of organizing my points logically, using topic sentences to introduce each paragraph’s main idea. This helped maintain a coherent flow and made my argument more persuasive. I also relied on evidence and examples to back up my claims, which I learned is vital in making a solid argument. Incorporating credible sources enhanced my essay's reliability and demonstrated thorough research.

Before submitting my final draft, I plan to go through several important steps.
