I think of the principles of democracy: universal suffrage, free and open elections, with no outside pressures.

The principle of conservation of mass. The principle of genetic assortment.
I like c best, but d is a close second, to me. I wonder what your teacher is trying to teach you here. We learn concepts and definitions by using them, not playing lawyerese with defintions, or as I had to, write the definition (usually short and incomplete) 25 times.
