PART ONE:

At the end of "Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief," the last line of the prophecy says, "you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end." When Percy decides to give the lightning bolt back to Zeus, he might think he’s saving the world, but he fails to keep his mom safe from the bad guy, Hades. I think this ending is kind of sad, but it shows that sometimes you have to make hard choices. I believe Percy made the right choice because he didn’t want a big war between the gods. If I were Percy, I would want to save my mom too, but saving the world is really important. Maybe I would try to find a way to save both!

PART TWO:

  1. Hi [Classmate's Name], I liked your thoughts about Percy’s choice! It really shows how hard it is to be a hero. I agree that sometimes you have to pick what’s best for the bigger picture.

  2. Hey [Classmate's Name], I thought your ideas about the prophecy were really interesting! It’s cool how it means different things to different people. I think Percy did the best he could, even if it was really tough.
