To become a U.S. citizen through naturalization, Jose must meet the following requirements:

Be at least 18 years old: Jose is already 18, which meets this requirement.

Have lawful permanent residency: Jose must have a valid green card (permanent resident status) for at least five years (or three years if he is married to a U.S. citizen).

Continuous residence: He must have lived in the United States continuously for at least five years (or three years if married to a U.S. citizen).
