Which president abolished death penalty in Zambia

1 answer

In Zambia, the death penalty was effectively abolished in 1997 when President Frederick Chiluba announced a moratorium on executions. Although the death penalty remained legal in Zambia, no executions have taken place since that moratorium was implemented. The formal abolition of the death penalty from the Zambian legal system has been discussed in subsequent years, but as of my last knowledge update in October 2023, it has not been fully abolished through legislative action.
