In 3–5 sentences, describe the requirements to run for U.S. president and how many terms a president can serve as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.

1 answer

To run for U.S. president, a candidate must be at least 35 years old, a natural-born citizen of the United States, and a resident of the country for at least 14 years. According to the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, a president can serve a maximum of two terms, which totals eight years in office. However, if a vice president or someone succeeding a president serves more than two years of a term to which another was elected, they may only be elected to one additional term.
