I know square root of 121 is 11. But what does it mean when there's a plus or minus outside the square root?

it means the sqrt of 121 is either +11 or -11
check: (-11)(-11)=121
(+11)(+11)=121
check: (-11)(-11)=121
(+11)(+11)=121
