True or False:

Georgia was the only colony to sell the stamps required by the Stamp Act

1 answer

False. While Georgia was the last of the American colonies to officially sell the stamps required by the Stamp Act, it was not the only colony to do so. The Stamp Act, enacted in 1765, required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London, carrying an embossed revenue stamp. All colonies were required to sell these stamps, although there was significant resistance and protest against the act in many of them.
