in physics, is it easier to pull a cart at a 45 degree angle or put an 8 ft board underneath, and pull it at a 20 degree angle?

The force required to pull the cart up is less with the less-inclined board, but one must pull farther to rise to the same height. The work required (force times distance)is the same either way.
An eight foot plank at 20 degrees incline can only raise the cart 2.7 feet in elevation.
