The human respiratory system is vital for breathing and includes the nose, throat (pharynx), voice box (larynx), windpipe (trachea), bronchial tubes, and lungs. When we inhale, air enters through the nose or mouth, where it’s filtered, warmed, and moistened before moving down the trachea into the bronchi and lungs. Inside the lungs, tiny tubes called bronchioles lead to even smaller air sacs called alveoli, where oxygen is exchanged for carbon dioxide.
Breathing involves muscles like the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, which help pull and push air in and out by changing chest cavity pressure. It’s fascinating how our body manages this essential process!
