Islam was primarily brought to India through the Turks from Central Asia. The most significant waves of Islamic influence came with the Arab invasions in the 7th century and later the establishment of various Turkic dynasties, such as the Ghaznavids and the Ghurids, from the 11th century onwards. While there were also influences from Persians and Arabs, the Turkic conquests played a crucial role in establishing Islam in the Indian subcontinent.
