cos(sin ^-1 1.414/2)
Work from inside out of parentheses, and I assume 1.414=√2, so assuming the usual range of the function sin<sup>-1</sup> to be [-π/2,π/2],
cos(sin<sup>-1</sup>√2/2)
=cos(π/4)
=√/2
