Physics 20 acceleration due to gravity questions

An object is thrown downwards, hitting the ground with a velocity of 10m/s . it fell for 0.880seconds. At what velocity was the object released.

V2 = V1 + g t
You know V2 (the final velocity), g and t. Solve for V1 (the initial downward velocity)

V1 = V2 - gt = 10 - 9.81 m/s^2*0.880s
= 10.00 - 8.93 m/s
