The Partition allowed Muslims to create their own country where they wouldn’t be a minority, which helped protect their political and religious interests. Since Hindus made up a big majority in India, many Muslim leaders were worried that they would be left out in a united India. By forming Pakistan, Muslims could govern themselves and keep their cultural and religious identity.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the leader of the Muslim League, said that Hindus and Muslims were like two different nations with deep differences between them. He believed that Partition was necessary to keep Muslims safe and help them thrive.
