Ethiotelecommunications, now known as Ethio Telecom, was established on July 26, 2010. It was formed to replace the former state monopoly, the Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation (ETC), and has since been the sole provider of telecommunications services in Ethiopia. Ethio Telecom has played a significant role in expanding telecommunications infrastructure in the country.
