On the downside, plastic pollution harms our oceans and wildlife, creating problems like animals getting trapped or eating plastic. It also takes hundreds of years to break down, filling up landfills. However, plastic is incredibly useful in medicine, packaging, and construction because it’s lightweight and durable. So while plastic has serious downsides, it also has positive uses that help society in many ways.
