What is the actual purpose of the Olympic rings. Isn’t the purpose of the rings to tell everyone that anyone is welcome to join and play from any part of the world.

Yes, you're right.
Originally, the five rings represented the five inhabited continents (Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Americas). This site has some interesting information.

Is this good: The purpose of the Olympic rings is to make everyone realize that the Olympic games are meany for all nations to be able to come and compete against one another in unity. Anyone from any part of the world is welcomed to come and partake in these sports.
