Estimate the magnitude of the electric field in a cell membrane with a thickness of 8nm

Do you have any idea what the voltage difference is? You need to divide that by the membrane thickness to get the E-field.

You also need to divide by the dielectric constant of the membrane, which I believe is about 5.
